I intentionally avoided public accounting coming out of college and decided to make my own path.
I worked a few big businesses but pretty quickly knew they weren't what I wanted. I wanted to do more than just accounting... I wanted to understand business.
That led to me stepping out into a rapidly growing small business and being forced to learn the ropes as we grew.
Eventually I became CFO.
I always loved writing then one day stumbled upon SMB Twitter/X. This allowed me to write within my area of passion (business) and ultimately led to where we are today.
If I could have planned my life, I couldn't have planned something so fulfilling!

Finance isn't hard.
I know it seems that way, but at its core it's simple. But most people never start.
I spent my career being a translator of finance to those who didn't know it, so when I started writing online teaching to business owners and leaders was natural.
My goal is to help business owners and leaders level up their businesses through improved financial literacy.

On my personal website, I share insights and thoughts that come from the heart. There you'll learn a bit more about me as a person... my family, my faith, and motivations.
I spend the majority of my time outside work with my lovely family (wife and 2 boys), live life with my church community, going to sporting events (Oklahoma State & OKC Thunder), and try and stay active (hiking, running, working out, and once in a blue moon basketball).
If I'm not with my family, you'll find me on the golf course. The zen of walking 18 holes by yourself in the heat of Oklahoma is hard to beat.
At night I prefer a night in over a night out, choosing to watch a show (The Office or Seinfeld) and then read until I fall asleep (I've read, on average, 50+ books a year over the last 10 years). Basically, I'm 80 years old already.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma City and plan to live here the rest of my life. Both my wife's family and mine are here, which is right were we want to be... with family.
We love our Oklahoma City Thunder and the growth our once sleepy city has seen.
Our favorite places in town are the Zoo, Science Museum, or walking on some of the trails around town. You'll often find us eating at Empire Slice House or Charleston's.
